Excerpt from "The Setting Sun" by Osamu Dazai

"The older and wiser heads of the world have always described revolution and love to us as the two most foolish and loathsome of human activities. Before the war, even during the war, we were convinced of it. Since the defeat, however, we no longer trust the older and wiser heads and have come to feel that the opposite of whatever they say is the real truth about life. Revolution and love are in fact the best, most pleasurable things in the world, and we realize it is precisely because they are so good that the older and wiser heads have spitefully fobbed off on us their sour grapes of a lie. This I want to believe implicitly: man was born for love and revolution."

-Osamu Dazai, The Setting Sun

This excerpt contains one of my favorite quotes (highlighted). What are your thoughts on this particular quote? Do you believe that man was born for love and revolution as well?

Vertical Garden Project

Good afternoon E.S.A. members!

This semester, many of our members and outside helpers are very busy with practice. As a result, Charlie, the student that was in charge of the Vertical Garden Project in the lobby (located where the ocean mural is) will be unable to continue the project due to his conflicting schedule. That being said, I wanted to know if any of you would be interested in taking over the project (I will help as well but I won't be able to do it alone). Charlie has volunteered to train the members interested in taking over the project. Here's what you'll be tasked with:
  • Collecting and prepping milk gallons
  • Filling them with dirt
  • Collecting and propagating plants (golden pothos was being used which can be found at Surfer's Beach near campus)
  • Watering plants once a week
If you are interested, please let me know ASAP.
